Classes

Classes available include, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Contemporary, Stretch Leap Spin & our pre school class Twinkle Toes.

For the younger dancer, Rosette levels 1, 2, and 3 are a great introduction to dance exams, giving them the confidence and skills to later perform in an examination setting without the teacher. Students receive a Rosette presented by the examiner and a report card with comments on their performance.

Minimum age requirements for different genres are listed below.

Older students perform their exams in a disciplined examination environment, receiving a report card with a percentage grade and a certificate to follow.

New students, please discuss with Amy or Jo which class is the best level to start.

TWINKLE TOES

Pre School dance class for 3 - 4 year olds.

Twinkle Toes is a fun dance class teaching basic movements, developing co-ordiation & rhythm, and the ability to follow instruction. Featuring age appropriate music and fun props!

Uniform is black WDS leotard, tutu of students choice and colour (can be bought from $2 shops etc...) Barefeet to be worn.

30 min class.

End of year performance during SHOW WEEK!

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary medal tests will be performed during exam week. These consist of learning a group dance and solo work.

Group dance participation is compulsory, solo dance will be taught to all students, and is optional come exam time to perform as a solo work or duo.

Students must be 8 years old to start Contemporary.

HIP HOP GROUP

This is a new class for students enrolled within a WDS hip hop class. Offered as an 'extra' class to build performance skill and confidence. The group will be learning choreo to perform at competitions and to use as a group medal performance at exam time.

Junior group will be available for students in Hip Hop Levels 2 , 3 & 4.

ADULT CLASSES

If timetable allows and dependant on demand adult classes may be available in a range of styles. These are run in 8/9 week blocks in terms 1 and 2.

STRETCH, LEAP AND SPIN /

CONDITIONING CLASSES

If timetable allows and dependant on demand stretch leap and spin / conditioning classes may be available. These classes are for students Level 3 Jazz upwards. The syllabus works on turns, leaps and flexibility in a fun way, featuring barre work, floor work, fun centre exercises and progression steps. The option to perform a group dance for medal tests is also available.
